The UAE Evidence Law recognises forms of electronic evidence, including electronic correspondence and modern means of communication. That does not make every screenshot conclusive. A useful evidence file shows who communicated, when, about which obligation and in what context. Keep the original source and attachments, not just selected cropped images. The applicable forum, authenticity, completeness and any challenge by the other party affect the assessment. DIFC proceedings may involve a different evidential framework.

A first assessment is faster when the core documents and identifiers are organised.

Authority and scope boundary

Common questions
Are screenshots enough on their own?
They may be useful, but can omit context or identifying information. Preserve the underlying records so the material can be checked if challenged.
Does a message saying “I will pay” prove the whole claim?
Its value depends on who sent it, the amount and obligation being discussed, surrounding messages and other evidence.
Should I post the messages publicly to pressure the other party?
Keep the evidence for the legal process. Public circulation can create separate privacy, confidentiality or reputational issues; obtain advice before disclosure.
