A police call or summons does not by itself establish guilt or mean that arrest is inevitable. Verify the station, file and whether you are being contacted as a complainant, witness or accused person. If you are arrested or brought to a police station as an accused person, the Criminal Procedures Law provides that you must be told the accusation and your right to remain silent before your statement is taken. Ask for an approved interpreter if you do not understand the language used, and do not sign a record you have not understood.
